New director of development appointed
Calthorpe Estates has strengthened its team with the appointment of Ralph Minott as director of development.
Ralph, who is qualified as a quantity surveyor, has 30 years of experience in property. As a key member of the development team, he will work alongside Calthorpe Estates’ other director of development, Mark Lambert. In his new role he will primarily oversee two of Calthorpe Estates’ landmark developments; the £100 million Edgbaston Mill retail and leisure scheme and the £90 million University Science Park, Pebble Mill.
He has most recently spent 10 years in the education sector with Leapfrog Day Nurseries, a national provider of child day care. Ralph helped found the company in 1998 and played a key role in establishing it as a market leader before its sale to Nord Anglia Education Plc in 2004. His last role with the organisation was as Nord Anglia’s group property development director where he was responsible for the acquisition, disposal, development and asset management of over 130 properties across the UK.
Ralph said: “I was attracted by the opportunity to work for a company with such an exciting vision and varied range of developments in progress. I’m delighted to be working for them in delivering their unique regeneration plans for Edgbaston, which already has a diverse range of facilities and amenities.
“I have had first-hand experience of Calthorpe Estates as a customer through Leapfrog Day Nurseries, who have had a presence on the Estate since 2000, so knew they were a commercially focused company with a long term commitment and high quality standards.”
Commenting on the appointment, David Povall, commercial director at Calthorpe Estates, said: “We are pleased to welcome Ralph to the team. His experience and customer focus will help us to continue to effectively deliver our planned developments, ensuring we also successfully meet the demands and expectations of today’s, and tomorrow’s, occupiers.”
Ralph has also previously held roles with Edmond Shipway, Conder Projects and Hughes Ashton Healthcare.
