Edgbaston Mill Christmas lights switch on

School choir, movie star and fake snow bring Christmas cheer to Edgbaston

An apartment development in Edgbaston was transformed into a winter wonderland with a little help from a local school choir, a snow machine and Marilyn Monroe……

Award-winning homebuilder Redrow and leading property investor and developer Calthorpe Estates hosted a festive gathering at the Hemisphere development, part of the mixed-use Edgbaston Mill scheme, for the Christmas tree lights switch on.

A glamorous Marilyn Monroe look-alike Susie Kennedy who has performed in front of a host of stars including Madonna and Kate Moss, flicked the switch to light up the 30 foot high tree, whilst pupils from local Lordswood Girls School provided some festive background carols.

There were also light refreshments and mulled wine for invited guests to help keep out the winter chill.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands) says: “Our Christmas event at Hemisphere was a jolly affair. The Lordswood Girls School choir were excellent and sang traditional Christmas carols, whilst the Marilyn Monroe lookalike injected some old-time Hollywood glamour.”

In the event that a ‘White Christmas’ wasn’t due any time soon Redrow even had a snow machine on hand to help add to the mood.

Ralph Minott of Calthorpe Estates added: “With its impressive elevations and perfect location nestled right by Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Cricket ground, Edgbaston Mill is the perfect backdrop for Christmas celebrations.

“With its exciting blend of stunning contemporary apartments, Hemisphere will be perfectly complemented by a range of on-the-doorstep facilities with quality restaurants, a range of leisure facilities, Grade A office space, food and convenience shopping.”

Visitors could also look around a collection of the one and two-bedroom apartments, which are currently for sale and could make the perfect yuletide gift!
